Basil

Basil, which is known as the king of herbs, is an aromatic herb with light green leaves. Basil leaves are generally used to flavor foods, either dried or fresh, although the latter contains much more flavor. It is best enjoyed raw, allowing its sweet flavor to shine through. Basil adds wonderful flavor to tomato sauce, pesto and vinegars. It is great on salads and sliced tomatoes, on many types of meat and vegetable dishes.
